Best movies of 2006
December 18, 2006Last year had several easy picks for the top ten list of 2005, and this year was not much different. My nominees are:
- V for Vendetta
- Match Point
- X-Men 3: The Last Stand
- Silent Hill
- Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest
- Casino Royale
- Night Watch
- Walk the Line
- The Illusionist
- Frostbiten

Since a Swedish vampire flick made it to the list, either I'm getting soft by old age or there wasn't really that many great films around this year. Honorary mention goes out to Eragon for trying but failing miserably.
I believe that 2007 will be an exciting movie year. Until then, I will kickstart the year with the traditional Gothenburg film festival. Hello darkness my old friend...

Hi, nice list :)
But where are Capote and Crash? I loved both of those films, for different reasons.
You should really check them out if you didn't do that already :)
Thank you!
Crash was number three on my "Top ten 2005" list (see link above), but unfortunately I haven't seen Capote yet. Must do that soon! :)
Wasn't Brokeback Moutain released in 2006? I can't find it on your 2005 list either, so you made a mistake no matter what. :P
Actually, I've deliberately avoided Brokeback Mountain. I have no interest whatsoever in watching two hours worth of men on horses. :)
Hmm, but it's not really about men on horses. It's more of a drama.
Be still my beating heart... You still have a lot of work to convince me. :)
Actually, it's more about men on men...
Didn't "The squid and the whale" come out in 2006? That movie would certainly make my list if it did.
Martin, I haven't seen that one. Thanks for the tip!
Ganska intressant faktiskt, klart läsvärt. :)
